Register TodayYou've done the insight part. This is the other part.
- You know your values — you just can't seem to make decisions that consistently reflect them.
- You're looking for something beyond inspiration — an actual methodology you can apply on Monday morning.
- There's a person or a situation you brace for. You've tried being more patient. Patience isn't the missing piece.
- Your body reacts before you've decided anything — and you'd like to know what to do in that half-second.
Four hours. Two disciplines. One shared intention.
This is not a talk with a Q&A at the end. You will be on your feet, on the floor, and in conversation with the person next to you.
Body — Dr. Wood
The day opens before anyone explains anything. Shoes off, standing, finding three grounding spots on your own body and noticing which one is easy to reach and which one isn't.
Mind — Christine
Curiosity as a skill you practice, not a personality you were born with. You'll bring a real situation — the relationship you brace for — and work it with a partner.
Body — Dr. Wood
What your nervous system is doing while all of that happens: how to name your own state, and what actually moves you out of it. Felt first, explained second.
Together
Fear and excitement send nearly the same signal. Learning to tell them apart — and to stay generous with people who are hard to be generous with.
Together
The close returns to the same three grounding spots you started with, so the difference is yours to feel rather than ours to claim. Then you write down what you're actually going to do.
On paper. In your handwriting.
Every segment of this workshop produces something you take home. That was the one thing our last group asked for more of, and it's built into the design now.
- Grounding map — Your three grounding spots, ranked — which is easiest to reach, which is hardest — written down at the start of the day.
- Question bank — Three to five curiosity questions you wrote yourself, for the situation you actually came in with.
- State self-check — A way to name what your nervous system is doing, plus one regulation practice you've already done once, in the room, with help.
- Before and after — The same grounding check at the end of the day, measured against your own opening baseline. Your data, not our claim.
- One action step — Written, specific, and small enough to survive Monday.
- An accountability structure — Built on a curious question rather than a report card. If accountability has meant shame for you before, this is the reframe.
Two practices, side by side.
Dr. Ashlee Wood, DC
The BodyHood — Upper Cervical Chiropractic
Ashlee practices trauma-informed upper cervical care in downtown Decatur. In the room she handles the physiology: what the nervous system does under pressure, why the body reacts before the decision, and what interrupts the cycle.
Christine Lloyd-Newberry, MPA
Emerge Empowered Coaching & Consulting
Christine is a leadership and life coach, specializing in burnout prevention and recovery. In the room she handles the practice: values as a working decision filter, curiosity you can use mid-conversation, and accountability without the report card.
“I learned new and useful methods and techniques, including breathwork and what happens to the mind-body when one is not aligned with their values — and what to do about it. The environment felt safe. Both presenters were very knowledgeable and worked well together.”

Join the presenters and a group of 5 others from the workshop on an evening in November to continue the conversation and the work. Two options: register for the one that works for you — Wednesday, November 4, or Wednesday, November 11, 7:00 PM, in Decatur.
5 people plus the presenters. Small enough that everyone talks. This is where the action step you wrote in October gets tested against what actually happened.
Before you come
- Wear something you can sit on the floor in. Shoes come off early and stay off for parts of the day.
